Authoritative and Commanding

A remarkable guard must be able to conduct himself in an authoritative and commanding manner. Much of being a security guard is centered around monitoring, evaluating the actions of others, maintaining peace and order. When a security guard perceives strange activities and happenings, such as an individual attempting to access a building through its window or any suspicious individuals, he has to be able to confidently handle the situation while never wavering on his position and responsibilities.

A security guard cannot be a timid type. He has to be able to assert himself — in a self-assured way — whenever the situation requires it. Because of that, strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must for all security personnel.
